The Flash platform will be on TV

Nowadays there are many additional tools which can make television changes to a device for browsing the Internet. However, the available technology can not make the internet browsing experience as comfortable as browsing on a PC. To meet the needs, Adobe and Intel have cooperated. The target is that users can enjoy browsing on television as comfortable as browsing the Internet on a computer

According to press release on January 5 2009, Adobe Systems Incorporated and Intel Corporation announced their plans in collaboration to develop and optimize the Adobe Flash technology and Intel CE 3100 Media Processor chip. The business is conducted to provide the experience of better ways in watching video and browsing the internet using the set top box (TV enhancements that can be used for browsing the Internet), Blu-ray player, digital TV, and other audio video devices.

Intel Media Processor CE1300 is a system on chips (SoC) that can later be placed in consumer electronic devices (CE). The chip will have the ability to run the flash application and will be presented before this mid-2009.

“The Intel CE 3100 Media Processor is an integrated solution that provides the technology base that is powerful and flexible which will present an Adobe Flash layout with high resolution,” said William O. Leszinske Jr., General Manager of Intel Digital Home Group.

Intel and Adobe have a history of cooperation that is quite long, including the latest which is joining the Open Screen Project, which was launched in May 2008. The Open Screen Project is a cooperation to bring the runtime environment in all types of displays. The initiative was attended by 20 partners in the technology industry who are working for the web content, a single application, and web browsing experience in all television device, set-top boxes, handheld devices, and other consumer electronic devices with the ability to take advantage of Adobe AIR and the Adobe Flash.

“Open Screen Project seeks to end developers and designers barriers to publish their content and applications to all devices,” said David Wadhwani, General Manager and Vice President Platform Business Unit Adobe. “The Intel CE 3100 Media Processor provides that powerful ability,” said Wadhwani.

In addition to cooperation above, Intel and Adobe are also collaborating to optimize implementation of the Adobe AIR technology for digital home platform owned by Intel in the future.
