The BBC is reporting that Google’s fast-but-essentially-pointless Chrome browser will soon be adpoted as the default internet standard on all Sony PCs, thanks to a deal between the two companies to get a woman in a hairnet to install a copy of Google Chrome on every Sony machine as it leaves the factory.
Regardless of your thoughts on Google’s rather stripped-down browser, it’ll be quite useful getting any sort of internet optionĀ bundled with your laptop from now on – thanks to the way the European Commission won’t let Microsoft distribute Internet Explorer with Windows 7 any more to give the little guys more of a chance.
The move will also give help Google take a bit more of a foothold in the browser wars, although with Chrome currently struggling in the low single digits in terms of user market share, it ought to be doing deals with monster box-shifting players like Dell and PC World, not Sony.
