Dell Adamo XPS review
FULL REVIEW: Dell Adamo XPS has its sights set on the MacBook Air but is the latest super slim notebook set to be a style icon?
Two years ago the Apple MacBook Air started a minor revolution. It aimed to turn the humble notebook from a work tool of seemingly never-changing design into something iconic to be lusted after.
The resulting product was selling to something of a niche market, but other manufacturers have also made a play for the “give me slim stylishness or give me death” crowd, with Dell’s Adamo XPS being the latest Air rival.
The original Adamo altered perceptions of Dell computers as dull boxes for grey men, but the Adamo XPS is even better: it’s stunning looking. The chassis is fashioned from a single piece of aluminium giving it a seamless look and high-quality feel. At a fraction under 10mm deep, it’s the world’s slimmest notebook and looks like little more than a folded sheet of exceedingly stylish metal. More »
ASUS Eee PC 1201N to be Released in January
ASUS has extended its netbook range with the Eee PC 1201N, due January 2010, which includes Nvidia’s Ion graphics, runs on Windows 7 and has a dual-core 1.6GHz Atom 330 processor.
This high power and supreme graphics results in a 1366×768 resolution glowing from a 12.1-inch panel and one HDMI port. But, as the 330 chip was designed for PCs, it consumes 8W of power compared to the average 2.5W used by the 1.6GHz Atom N270 most netbooks use. This has an impact on battery life – the 1201N runs up to five hours from its six-cell, 63Wh battery pack whereas most Eee PCs conk out after nine hours. More »

Technology Review: Samsung X120
Samsung’s new ultra-thin and light X120 could well be just the ticket for you who wants something that is a little bit nippier than your average sub-£400 ‘mini-puter’ that are all the rage right now.
Samsung’s X120 will set you back around £500, so the machine sits nicely somewhere in-between Sony’s (reassuringly expensive) £1300-plus VAIO X Series and Apple’s £1000-plus MacBook Air at the very top end, and the slimmer but slower (and hence slightly cheaper) netbooks such as the ASUS Seashell, Acer’s Aspire One and Dell’s Mini 10. The New Dell Adamo XPS – Thinnest Laptop on the Market
The new, high-end Dell Adamo XPS has officially became the world’s thinnest laptop, out-slimming even the Apple MacBook Air. The Adamo is an incredible 9.9mm thick.
One of the hot features in the Adamo is an innovative finger-swipe system on the lid, which will open the laptop automatically. When the mechanism rests in a working position, the keyboard is propped up by the screen, leaving it at a typing-friendly angle. The USB ports, et al, are also housed within the screen, helping to keep the keyboard itself even thinner. More »
