Intel investigates the circulation of counterfeit Core i7

Intel reveals, at least one fake Core i7-920 version can be found in the U.S. Now, this giant chip maker is investigating how many fake Core i7 is on the market.

Last week, a site about the hardware HardOCP reported, one of their forum members accept false Core i7 processors bought from computer stores and online electronic component called Newegg.

As reported by PC Advisor, Monday (8/3/2010), the processor is sold separately fake or per box chip, with instructions that the entire contents of the manual pages blank.

In addition, stickers are pasted outside the box was misspelled. Should have written ’socket’ to ’sochet’. The many other words in the wrong box write increasingly indicates that the product is not genuine.

Not clear how circulating fake chips at Newegg. HardOCP reported, when buyers complain complaint, the party claimed to have sent Newegg original processor.

Meanwhile, in a brief statement Intel acknowledged that it discovered the existence of counterfeit chips and until now still continue to investigate.

“Intel discovered there are several products Core i7-920 fake on the market. We are looking to find out how many Core i7 sold counterfeit,” said Intel spokesman Nick Jacobs.

He advised the affected customers should contact their place of buying fake products for replacement, or report to local authorities when the store refused to give replacement.

With the hype and excitement reaching near bursting point, just a week before the expected launch, Apple is said to be in talks with UK operators over network partnerships for its tablet PC.

It is claimed that Orange, O2 and Vodafone are all keen to stock the hugely anticipated device that is responsible for causing the biggest buzz in all of techland.

It is believed that operators will bundle the rumoured iSlate in with 3G mobile broadband contracts, subsidising the expected £800 cost of the tablet PC.

Currently nothing more than rumour and speculation, Apple’s tablet PC is expected to come crashing into the realms of reality on January 27th when the San Francisco-based company unveils its “latest creation”. More »

Sony’s recently announced VAIO L Series touchscreen PC is a thing of beauty. A stunner of a flat-screen all-in-one multimedia computer that doubles up as a HDTV.
