ASUS Eee PC 1201N to be Released in January

ASUS Eee PC 1201NASUS has extended its netbook range with the Eee PC 1201N, due January 2010, which includes Nvidia’s Ion graphics, runs on Windows 7 and has a dual-core 1.6GHz Atom 330 processor.

This high power and supreme graphics results in a 1366×768 resolution glowing from a 12.1-inch panel and one HDMI port. But, as the 330 chip was designed for PCs, it consumes 8W of power compared to the average 2.5W used by the 1.6GHz Atom N270 most netbooks use. This has an impact on battery life – the 1201N runs up to five hours from its six-cell, 63Wh battery pack whereas most Eee PCs conk out after nine hours.

It’s a small price to pay for a powerful netbook. The 1201N also has a 250GB hard drive, 3GB of memory and Wi-Fi and it will only set you back £399.
